Devonium Waxweiler - Geotourism highlight - unique in Germany
This museum tells one of the most exciting stories of evolution: the earth had already existed for thousands of millions of years until a green revolution laid the foundations of our life around 400 million years ago. Plants left the water and conquered the land. Immerse yourself in this distant world, because the Devonium explains these complex relationships of the science of fossil life (palaeontology) in a playful way. In the Devonian period, Waxweiler was located in a river delta. This Lower Devonian delta is the site of unique fossilised plant finds by the Rebske family. The museum presents the latest scientific findings on the fossils found in the Köppen quarry near Waxweiler and on the depositional environments of the rock layers exposed there.
