Pfarrkirche St. Nikolaus zu Neuerburg mit Torturm
Neuerburg
The parish church of St. Nicholas was built in late Gothic style in 1492 under Cuno II, Count of Manderscheid-Blankenheim, Lord of Neuerburg. It is located in the "Burgfried", a hill below the castle. The two-aisled building is characterized by its beautiful net vaults and the coats of arms in the keystones of the vaults.
The baptismal font from the 16th century, the octagonal wooden pulpit from the 18th century and the confessional with its extensive carvings are particularly valuable. There is also a sacramental shrine from the time of construction. The figure of St. Nicholas - the patron saint of the church - dates from the 15th century.
The gate tower at the parish church is the medieval entrance to the first castle section and is also the bell tower. After the great fire of 1818, it was rebuilt in the old style.
