South Eifel Nature Park Hiking Trail No. 89
Dockendorf
Field report of a hiker
At the start in the centre of Dockendorf, we have four options to hike the trail, which is laid out in the shape of a figure eight.
We decide on the southern direction and take the main road, cross the Peffinger Straße and walk through the field past the Scharren nature reserve. Here you can see plenty of rare orchids in spring.
Continue between paddocks across the Keuperbach stream towards Wolsfelder Berg. After crossing the L2, we reach the Hubertusbrunnen fountain on the left. In summer, this is an opportunity for a rest and a "Kneipp walk" in the water treading pool. The water is very cold and only the hardy can do several laps.
We are now in the district of the local community of Wolsfeld and follow the hill up to the district of Wolsfelder Berg. Worth seeing here is the Marienkapelle (Lady's Chapel) next to the road, which was built in 1986 on a private initiative from a converted residential building. We follow the road towards Holsthumerberg.
Back in the Dockendorf district, the path leads over the height of the Wolsfelder Berg and then down through the "Großenbüsch" towards the village.
Passing the chapel "Zur Schmerzhaften Gottesmutter", which is worth a look, we return past the sports field to the centre of the village.
